چکیده

Variation of the chemical composition of bottom sediments collected from three lakes with different water mixis, morphometric parameters, catchment areas and anthropogenic pressures was analyzed. Sediment samples were characterized by water content and concentrations of organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, iron and aluminium. Statistically significant correlations between the content of organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus were found. In a large and deep lake (dimictic) subjected to limited human impact, the tendency changes of chemical composition along the sediment profile indicates a recent considerable increase in water trophy. In a small mid-forest lake (classified as meromictic), the changes in chemical composition of bottom sediments along with depth point to periodical increases in fertility as a result of wastewater inflow. In a large mid-field lake (polymictic), the analogous variation has indicated disturbances in the mechanism of

Reconstruction environmental changes of Maharlou Lake in Holocene

Extended Abstract: 1-Introduction There is a direct relationship in evaporative deposit with the changes in the depth of the lake. Therefore?, valuable information is gained regarding the causation of changes in environment over time. Evaporite minerals formation is a natural phenomenon accruing in water-bodies containing deferent mineral Since sulfate is abundant in seawater and saline lakes...

Sedimentological evidence of the level and climate changes of Lake Zeribar in the Holocene

Lakes are very interesting sedimentary environments for the study of ancient climate, changes in sedimentary environments and lake level changes. Lake Zeribar is situated in the Zagros Mountains, Kurdistan, Iran. The main purpose of this research is to examine grain size sediments, geochronology and clay mineralogy accumulated in Zeribar Lake in order to check the water level fluctuations, clim...

Investigation of Sediment Discharge Hydro-Induction for Preventing Sediment In Dams (a Review)

Hydro-induction sediment discharge technique (HSDT) aims to prevent reservoir sedimentation by withdrawing the discharge water from the reservoir bottom to suck up and discharge sediments, and by inducing vertical vortexes and undercurrents in the reservoir bay to keep sediments agitated and moving. The technique is facilitated with an innovative discharge conduit system having bottom intakes t...
